Dr. Bauer and his staff are amazing!! Dr. Bauer is caring, compassionate and a wonderful dentist. He takes the time to explain everything he is doing and is really gentle...I have never really been fond of dentists but my experience with this practice has changed my outlook, The staff here is the best! I highly recommend this practice to anyone searching for a dentist
View on GoogleDr. Baur was my dentist for nearly 20 years when he retired. I was so worried the new dentist, his nephew, Dr. Baur, wouldn't be nearly as great as the original Dr. Baur. But he is. He is awesome. For someone who is inherently nervous about dental work, he is kind, gentle and understanding. Also, talented. Trust this office. Good people, doing good work.
View on GoogleHow Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Over time, tooth enamel can become yellowed and dull no matter how well you take care of your teeth. Genetics, antibiotics, tobacco products, and certain foods and drinks can all cause discoloration. Fortunately, our Lakewood practice provides an easy solution with Opalescence™ Boost™ teeth whitening by Ultradent™. This system uses a special hydrogen peroxide gel with anti-sensitivity ingredients to tackle tooth discoloration in about an hour without pain or discomfort.
For patients who prefer a take-home treatment, Dr. Bauer also offers Phillips Zoom NiteWhite at-home whitening kits.
Why Do Patients Choose Us?
"I was very self-conscious about going to a dentist because of all the work I needed done. They made me feel at home there and I felt no embarrassment. They have a wonderful team that does great work and I highly recommend them." Jeffery Badger

In-Office Whitening
In-office whitening treatment is the fastest and most effective way to whiten enamel and enhance your smile. Dr. Bauer applies the Opalescence™ Boost™ hydrogen peroxide gel to the surface of your teeth and carefully monitors your progress as the formula takes effect. As the bleaching agent spreads through the tooth, it reacts with and breaks down discoloration, brightening your enamel by several shades in less than an hour. Depending on your goals, you can complete treatment in just one appointment, or attend several shorter sessions for more dramatic results.
At-Home Whitening
For patients who prefer to undergo treatment in the comfort of their own homes, we offer Phillips Zoom NiteWhite professional take-home kits that are worn overnight. Unlike whitening strips and other over-the-counter products, this professional take-home teeth whitening kit contains custom-made trays for precise and accurate application. Patients fill the trays with professional-grade bleaching gel and place them over their upper and lower dental arches. Most people will begin to see results within a day or two but the process can be repeated over several weeks for maximum results.
Maintaining Your Results
Avoid Certain Foods and Drinks
Refrain from consuming darkly colored foods and drinks on a regular basis. If you do choose to indulge, try drinking through a straw or swishing with water or brushing immediately afterward.
Use Whitening Toothpaste
Whitening toothpaste can be used on a daily basis to discourage stains from progressively accumulating.
Combine Treatments
Patients often use our professional at-home whitening kits to touch up their in-office treatment as needed. Ask Dr. Bauer about combining both options for long-term results.
Stop Smoking
Any kind of tobacco product can quickly stain your teeth, wasting the time and money you invested in your professional teeth whitening treatment.
Can I Get My Teeth Whitened?
- The best way to find out if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening treatment is to schedule a state-of-the-art exam with Dr. Bauer.
- He can then determine if dental issues such as tooth decay or gum disease need to be addressed before whitening can begin.
- Also, it might be possible that a tooth that is severely stained or internally discolored may need a crown, veneer, or another treatment to improve its appearance. Dr. Bauer can discuss these options during your appointment.
